Full Disclosure of Anime Checker's Update Function
You can disable the update checker without having to connect to the internet by selecting "NO" to the prompt on Anime Checker's first run. If at a later time you want Anime Checker to automatically check for updates, then you can select the Check for updates item under the Help menu. In the new window that opens, select Check for updates on start-up.
Anime Checker can check for updates on program start-up if desired. When Anime Checker does so, it retrieves one file describing any potential updates that may be available. This is the only request that Anime Checker makes and it will only happen once automatically and the rest of the time this request is user initiated.
Once an update is found, Anime Checker will access the internet to download the new program file.
Anime Checker never checks for updates when it is not running, there are no background processes.
